Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev won his maiden championship for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, managing just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-term coach Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface after spring of the previous year.

Victory also signifies he has won 21 championships at 21 different events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is really nice," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child her name, because the first title I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.

The player's defensive play style and regular outbursts on court had caused commentators to question if his ability to perform at the highest level was concluded.

But the player has made changes in the past month, attempting to advance forward and perform aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

The champion came back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the final five games to take the lead.

The competitors swapped break points in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden professional title, gained dominance to create a third set.

The opponent saved four early-game chances in a tight deciding set before the champion won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the win with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
